Private Pilot Licence (Aeroplanes) PPL(A) Guidance Notes

Privileges

The holder of a PPL(A) may act as pilot in command or co-pilot of any aeroplane engaged in non-revenue flight, subject to certain rules and requirements:


Minimum Age

The holder of a PPL(A) shall be at least 17 years of age. Training however may commence at the age of 14 years of age, and solo flight under supervision may occur at the age of 16 years.


Medical Fitness

An applicant for a PPL(A) shall hold a valid class 1 or 2 (Aviation) medical certificate. In order to exercise the priviliges of a PPL(A) licence a valid class 1 or 2 medical must be current.
